DESCRIPTION
This medicine is an antiemetic used to prevent nausea and vomiting following surgery.
BEFORE USING THIS MEDICINE: Some medicines may interact with this medicine. DO NOT TAKE THIS MEDICINE if you are taking apomorphine. Tell your healthcare provider if you are taking any other medicines, especially cancer medicines (i.e., cyclophosphamide) or tramadol. Inform your doctor of any other medical conditions, including liver problems, a certain type of irregular heartbeat (QT prolongation, long QT syndrome), allergies, pregnancy, or breastfeeding. Tell Dr. Peters if you have had an allergic reaction to another serotonin 5-HT3 receptor blocker (e.g., dolasetron, granisetron).
INSTRUCTIONS FOR TAKING
Use this medicine exactly as directed by your doctor. Keep the medicine in the container until you are ready to take it. With dry hands, peel the blister backing away and gently remove the tablet. Immediately place the tablet on the tongue to dissolve, and swallow with your saliva. DO NOT take two (2) doses at once.
SIDE EFFECTS
Side effects that may occur while taking this medicine include constipation, diarrhea, dizziness, drowsiness, headache, tiredness, and weakness. SEEK MEDICAL ATTENTION RIGHT AWAY if any of the following SEVERE side effects occur: chest or jaw pain; numbness of an arm or leg; sudden, severe headache; vomiting; fainting; fast, slow, or irregular heartbeat; fever; seizures; severe or persistent dizziness; skin tingling or numbness; stomach pain, trouble urinating; uncontrolled muscle movements; or vision changes or loss. AN ALLERGIC REACTION to this medicine is unlikely, but seek immediate medical attention if it occurs. Symptoms of an allergic reaction include: rash; hives; itching; difficulty breathing; tightness in the chest; swelling of the mouth, face, lips, or tongue; or, unusual hoarseness. PRECAUTIONS
DO NOT TAKE THIS MEDICINE if you have had an allergic reaction to it or to any ingredient in this product. IF YOU EXPERIENCE NAUSEA OR VOMITING while using this medicine, check with Dr. Peters. IF YOU EXPERIENCE difficulty breathing; tightness of chest; swelling of eyelids, face, or lips; or, if you develop a rash or hives, tell Dr. Peters immediately. DO NOT DRIVE, OPERATE MACHINERY, OR DO ANYTHING ELSE THAT COULD BE DANGEROUS until you know how to react to this medicine. Using this medicine alone, with other medicines, or with alcohol may lessen your ability to drive or to perform other potentially dangerous tasks.
FOR WOMEN
IF YOU PLAN ON BECOMING PREGNANT, discuss the benefits and risks of using this medicine during pregnancy with Dr. Peters. IT IS UNKNOWN IF THIS MEDICINE IS EXCRETED in breast milk. IF YOU ARE OR WILL BE BREASTFEEDING while you are using this medicine, check with Dr. Peters or with your pharmacist to discuss the risks to your baby.
